Kreditech doesn’t appear to operate in the United States, nor in Germany where it is based. According to a cursory overview of the documents leaked online, the bulk of Kreditech’s customers/applicants are from Brazil, the Czech Republic, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Poland, Russia, Spain and Romania.
Premera Blue Cross, a major provider of health care services, disclosed today that an intrusion into its network may have resulted in the breach of financial and medical records of 11 million customers. Although the company isn’t saying so just yet, there are independent indicators that this intrusion is once again the work of state-sponsored espionage groups based in China.
Anthem Inc., the nation’s second largest health insurer, disclosed Wednesday that hackers had broken into its servers and stolen Social Security numbers and other personal data from all of its business units. Book2park.com is the third online parking service since December 2014 to fall victim to this cybercriminal group.

This week, both companies confirmed that they had indeed suffered a breach.

An organized gang of hackers from Russia and Ukraine has broken into internal networks at dozens of financial institutions and installed malicious software that allowed the gang to drain bank ATMs of cash. While none of the victim institutions were in the United States or Western Europe, experts say the stealthy methods used by the attackers in these heists would likely work across a broad range of western banks.
Office supply chain Staples Inc. today finally acknowledged that a malware intrusion this year at some of its stores resulted in a credit card breach. The company now says some 119 stores were impacted between April and September 2014, and that as many as 1.16 million customer credit and debit cards may have been stolen as a result.
